I'm sure by now most people would have read that Wix have bought out 100% of dA (I know the journal says they're 'partners', but Wix now own 100% of deviantART, bought for $36M).
We're slightly concerned over the terms of service, and even though Spyed tried to explain it away that Wix wouldn't open up the contents of deviantART like a big clip-art resource, both theirs and dA's terms of service state differently.16. the 2nd sentence: "For the sole purpose of enabling us to make your Content available through the Service, you grant to DeviantArt a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, re-format, store, prepare derivative works based on, and publicly display and perform Your Content."
I think Spyed is trying to do a bit of damage control, but now that he's not in charge of the company anymore, it's not really up to him to say something that contradicts Wix's own statement.
With this in mind, among other things, we've decided that we don't want to use deviantART from here on out. Aside from the fact that the site is becoming more convoluted to use, we mainly use Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr (and soon Patreon, YouTube and our own site) to connect with our supporters, and haven't used deviantART in quite a while.
I love the experience I've had here, and I've personally made lifelong best friends here ( Mimiero
!), but some things just run their natural course. So, with that in mind, if you do want to keep up with our games and what we're doing, please check out our sites here:
Also, if anyone wants to just stay in touch over email, you know my inbox is always open
please feel free to say hi if you want to
My address is ella.kingstone[at]yahoo.co.uk if you want to stay in touch. PedroThePie
I've got both of your email addresses already, so I'll send an email through to you in a little while about your commissions so I don't just suddenly disappear off and you never know how to get back in touch about your commissions ;A; If your email's changed, then feel free to just give me a shout and let me know
So we'll be taking the artwork out of our galleries over the next couple of days. It's not that we're particularly over-paranoid, but we do like to retain as much control over our work as possible.
